As Coivid-19 restrictions began to ease in the summer of 2021, we planned to host a summer production of Wizard of Oz on an outdoor stage truck for all the community to enjoy as part of the Ardoyne and Marrowbone Community Festival. This involved roughly 30 people from across North Belfast aged between 8-70yrs old. Unfortunately, just weeks before our production a number of our lead cast members contracted COVID-19 and had to isolate, missing vital rehearsal time. We made the difficult decision to postpone the show and decided that it would be safer to create a ‘movie’ version of Wizard of Oz. For the past 6-9 months, we have been travelling across Northern Ireland with our cast to shoot the film and have visited Carrickfergus Castle, Ballypatrick Forest, Flax Film Studios, Crumlin Road Gaol and even a hairdresser in North Belfast. The movie is now in post-production and our main aim to show it at a cinema screening for the general public to enjoy.
