The North Belfast Community Leadership Awards Friday 24th January 2020
The North Belfast Community Leadership Awards took place in Holy Cross Church North Belfast on Friday 24th January, with the Ulster Orchestra, conductor Steve Barnett, Manager Richard Wigley and the cast of Oklahoma, Rodgers and Hammerstein with soprano Megan Mooney. Master of Ceremonies was Gavin Boyd.
Donations were in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.
Sean Devlin, YEHA Youth Worker received Youth Leader of the Year Award, presented by Lord Mayor Daniel Baker.
The North Belfast Youth Choir received the Award for Peace and Reconciliation, presented by U.S. Consul General Elizabeth Kenney Trudeau.
The Inspiring Project Award was received by Wings of Hope, presented to Sally Smyth by Fr Myles Kavanagh.
The Community Leader Awards: Nicola Bradley, one of the co-ordinators of the Community Food Bank, was presented with the Award by Sr Mary Turley.
Sinead McKinley, North Belfast Partnership was presented with the Award by Eamon Mullan, Ulster University.
The Award for Youth Group for Courage and Positive Change was presented to New Lodge Arts Youth Programme by James McGinn.
Sporting Groups Making a Difference: Peace Players International – Northern Ireland (PPI-NI) was presented with Award by Anne Tanney.
Crumlin Star Football Club was presented with Award by Peter Smyth.
Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Liz Rocks, Belfast Homeless Services by Fr Myles Kavanagh.
The evening concluded with the Ulster Orchestra, Megan Mooney soprano and the cast of Oklahoma performing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, from the musical Carousel.
