The Flax Trust Inter-Community School Choir Awards (FISCA) 4th December 2014
The Flax Trust Inter-Community School Choir Awards took place in Belfast City Hall on Thursday 4th December.
240 children from 18 primary and post primary schools in North Belfast came together to create 9 cross community choirs and performed a variety of choral classics vying to win the George Mitchell Cup & Bursary for ‘Most Captivating Performance.’
In addition to £5000 in awards the Trust gave a grant of £500 to each School competing for their magnificent performances and the hard work of Teachers and Pupils.
The evening was a resounding success with demand for tickets vastly outweighing capacity.
The George Mitchell Cup & Bursary for ‘Most Captivating Performance’ was won by Jordanstown Centre for the deaf & visually impaired and St Vincent de Paul Primary School. Both shared a bursary of £3,000.
The George Quigley Cup for ‘Most Accomplished Senior Choir’ was won by Dominican College and Belfast High which shared a bursary of £1,000.
The Tom Foley Cup for ‘Most Promising Junior Choir’ was won by Black Mountain Primary School and St Terese of Lisieux Primary School, again a bursary of £1,000 was shared by the winners.
