4. NB Housing

Flax Foyer opened to the first residents Feb 1999, In addition to accommodation for 16–25-year-olds it offers opportunities in education, training, personal skills in preparation to finding employment.

Flax Foyer was the first of its kind in Northern Ireland.

6. Bannside Community Group

Bannside Community Group was founded in 1995 by members of the local community with the objective of seeking ways to address the multi-social and economic deprivation of the Obin’s / Corcrain interface in Portadown and bridging the religious divide by the promotion of mutual understanding and respect. A voluntary and community development organisation was seen as the catalyst to drive these issues forward to gain a favourable resolution.
Bannside Development Centre provides the facilities which Bannside Community Group use to deliver community based, tailored projects designed to improve education in the interest of social welfare, the protection of health and recreation for everyone in the local and surrounding communities, regardless of age, gender, race, political or religious opinion.
7. Houben Centre

The Houben Centre is located between Woodvale and Crumlin Roads serves as a community hub for everyone no matter age, gender, race or religion. As well as various activities it contains community café run by volunteers.

8. School for Social Enterprises in Ireland
The School for Social Enterprises in Ireland (SSEI) is a Flax Trust / Ulster University Alliance (2005) devoted exclusively to leadership, management and business development for the social economy sector.
In 2024/25 SSEI on behalf of the Flax Trust and Ulster University was delighted to announce the introduction of an innovative approach to the TRANSFORM social enterprise initiative integrating the Advanced Certificate in Social Enterprise with a high- level Professional Development Programme. Participants pursue an academic qualification as well as enhancing their personal and professional capabilities with customised workshops and masterclasses delivered by world renown speakers and practitioners.
There has been a desire to explore environmental and sustainable approaches to social enterprise in collaboration with a range of stakeholders.
The Flax Trust continues to provide significant and valued support in the form of Bursaries to enable participants access the full programme of academic qualification and professional development

9. Community Regeneration Project, North Belfast


New Life for Brookfield Mill – Town Houses and Apartments. The old mill building contains 55 apartments and an additional 22 town houses.
