Christmas Gala Competition

240 young people from schools in North Belfast came together in front of a packed audience in Belfast City Hall for a Christmas Gala Competition – Flax Trust Inter-community School Choir Awards (FISCA) event. Noel Thompson BBC was Master of Cermonies . In addition to £5000 in awards the Trust gave a grant of £1000 to each School competing for for the magnificant performances and the hard work of Teachers and Pupils.

The George Mitchell Cup for Most Captivating Performance presented by Lady Empey and an award of £3,000 presented by Sr Mary Turley was won by Dominican College Fortwilliam and Belfast High. Below with Stephen Cairns Belfast High, Maebh Mc Keon and Sara-Jane Kelly Fortwilliam.

Below – The George Quigley Cup for Most Accomplished Senior Choir presented by Lady Quigley and an award of £1,000 presented by Sr Mary Turley was won by Mercy College and Boys Model.  Mercy College  Miss McGirr, Boys’ Model, Mrs Baird and Mrs Brown.

Below – The Tom Foley Cup for Most Promising Junior Choir presented by US Consul General Gregory Burton and an award of £1,000 presented by Sr Mary Turley was won by Holy Family and Currie Primary. Isobel Blair Curry Primary, Moire Wilson and Roisin Whyte Holy Family Primary.
