15^the December 2023 at Holy Cross Church

In aid of the Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice

On 15^the December, The Flax Trust hosted a spectacular Christmas event at Holy Cross Church.  Fr John Friel, Rector Holy Cross welcomed all. Featuring performances by The Flax Trust Ensemble, showcasing the talent in North Belfast; the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra, conducted by Paul McBride; Megan Mooney, soprano; and Bethany Simpson, clarinettist.

Performances by City of Belfast Youth Orchestra included: –

Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana – Mascagni;

Finlandia – Sibelius;

Waltz from Jazz Suite No. 2 – Shostakovich;

Winter Wonderland – Bernard & Smith with soloist Megan Mooney & Flax Trust Arts Ensemble

And on Earth, Peace – Rouse – Flax Trust Arts Ensemble

The Christmas Song – Torme

All I Want for Christmas is You – Carey – both performed by Bethany Simpson,

Soloists included: – Kyle Emerson, Aodhán Halfpenny & Dylan Nugent – Barnes.  Ensemble included: – Ella Coey & Jenny Winder

Readings were by Kevin McReynolds accompanied by Andrew Tubman & Bethany Simpson

The evening left everyone in the holiday spirit.  The event had record attendance and all proceeds went to the Children’s Hospice.
