Flax Trust continues to support the Education Task Group to develop a vision for Catholic Education in North Belfast.  The vision is to build an ‘All Faith Education Village’. 

The long-awaited government response to the people’s vote was announced on 21^st March 2022.  Education Minister Michelle McIlveen (DUP) made a statement to the Northern Ireland Assembly announcing 28 schools to advance in planning under the Major Capital Works Program. One of these is Mercy College which is the first phase of the Education Village.  The schools will benefit from an estimated capital investment of £794m.
